View a list of all cats to adopt
If you are considering adopting a cat please get in touch with us. We always have cats, and occasionally kittens, looking for homes. Some of these cats are shown on the website but the latest arrivals may not have reached it yet.
It is Cats Protection policy always to visit a new prospective home prior to re-homing a cat or kitten. This is not an inspection of your house, it is to reassure the fosterer that the cat will be in a safe environment and be well-cared for. We also promise owners that hand their cats into CP care for re-homing that we will personally visit each home before placing a cat there.
Before leaving our care all cats are blood tested for FIV and FeLV, vet checked, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. All kittens are vet checked, microchipped and vaccinated before they leave our care at 9 weeks or over.
We do not home cats or kittens if you live on or very near a main road, or if they are to be 'indoors only' cats. The majority of our cats and kittens come from country locations and have been used to the outside world. However occasionally we do get cats in that have never been outside or may need a protected environment and in that case we would consider re-homing them as indoor cats. It is always worth asking.
Kittens
Most of the kittens we have for re-homing come from farms and are usually born in the spring and summer, winter kittens are rare. If you have very young children it would be advisable to consider a fully-grown cat. (Kittens become adult size at about 6 months old). Likewise if you are out all day consider getting two kittens so that they can keep each other company otherwise an adult cat might be a better option. If you are away from home for a long period each day, you would still need to have someone on hand who can visit the kittens during the day and feed them at lunchtime. Kittens are not re-homed until they are at least 9 weeks old and have had their first inoculation.
Golden Oldies
Cats can live healthy and active lives until over 20 years. If you are looking for a companion but are worried about a lively cat that will require lots of attention, or that it might outlive you, consider an older cat, they can offer all the affection and companionship that you are looking for and are very low maintenance, they are not destructive, stay at home, and just like a comfortable place to sit - and food twice a day of course! At least a third of our cats are between 7 and 16 years old and although not strictly elderly (16 - 20) they may have to spend up to a year in a pen before finding that special person.
