Cats Protection is a charity and therefore depends entirely on the generosity of the general public for its funding. As it is an animal charity it is not eligible for lottery grants. Each branch raises its own money and in addition receives an annual grant from Headquarters. Homing donations are our main source of income but any voluntary donations are very welcome. Please contact us if you would like to make a spontaneous donation. If you are a UK taxpayer you can complete a Gift Aid form so that we can reclaim 28 pence for every pound you donate from the Inland Revenue. If you require a Gift Aid form please contact us. Cheques should be made payable to Peebles & Biggar Cats Protection.
Each cat that is taken in by us, fostered, and then re-homed costs approximately £40.
For example
75 p will buy a box of ping pong balls to keep kittens entertained
£1 will provide heat for a bed for one week
£6 will buy a tin of milk powder for feeding motherless kittens
£15 will feed a cat for one month
£25 will cover the cost of a veterinary check and microchip implant
£100 will buy a trap to help catch those feral cats
There are other ways you can donate:
- DIRECT DEBIT - making a regular donation enables us to plan for the cats that will inevitably come into our care in the future.
- LEAVE A LEGACY to Cats Protection or remember us in your will. This is not something we like to think about, but even a small bequest to your local branch can make a tremendous difference to our work. Leaving a donation to charity in your Will also minimises your tax liability.
If you would like more details, or to talk to us about this, then simply contact us and we will be happy to explain how this works.
- PROVIDE FOR YOUR CAT IN YOUR WILL - you cannot leave money to your cat, but you can leave money in your Will to Peebles and Biggar Cats Protection on condition that we ensure your cat is looked after for the rest of his/her life. For more information about this service contact us and we can discuss it with you.
We have a range of leaflets covering the above topics - "A Will to help cats" and "Securing your cat's future" - for a copy of these leaflets please see our Cat Information Leaflets page or ring the catline for more information.
-
SPONSOR A LONG TERM CAT - sometimes we take in cats that cannot be re-homed and they spend the rest of their lives with us, sponsoring one of these can be rewarding, we will keep you up to date with news and photos of your cat, you will receive our newsletter and be welcome to come and visit as often as you like.
